SWIM TEAM

CLASSES

Parents/Child Class (10 months to 3 1/2 years old)
This class is a water orientation course for very young children and their parents. The children learn to enjoy the water with their parent(s) through a variety of songs, games and safety skills. Children are not expected to learn to swim in this class. It is our goal to cultivate both the child's and the parent's confidence in the pool. It is not important to pressure children who are not immediately fond of the water into participation in all class activities. Negative aquatic experiences will not lead to future enjoyment of the water. Parents need not be swimmers themselves to participate in the class. Children three and younger MUST wear a swim liner. AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AT THE POOL FOR $7.00 (REUSEABLE)

Level I (3-5 years old)
Orientation to water for new students will include entering/exiting water independently, submerging face, opening eyes underwater, blowing bubbles, bobbing, supported kicking and floating, intro to PFD (Personal Flotation Device), and personal water safety rules.
Level II (4-10 years old)
Students will learn jump in entry, retrieving objects, unsupported floating and gliding, kicking front and back, combined stroke front and back, intro to rhythmic breathing, PFD use, and safety and rescue skills.
Level III (Ages 5+)
Students will learn coordinated front and back crawl, rolling over and reversing direction, elementary backstroke, deep-water entries including diving, PFD use, and safety and rescue skills.
Levels IV & V (Ages 6+)
Students will learn breaststroke, sidestroke, standing dives, flip turns and treading water. Students will also work on stroke refinement and endurance for front crawl and back crawl.
Levels VI & VII (Ages 7+)
Students will work on front/back crawl, breaststroke, standing dives, flip turns, treading water, intro to butterfly kick/stroke and safety and rescue skills. Students will improve and work on endurance of all four strokes.

If your child moves to a higher level than you had registered them, we will make every effort to accommodate a transfer. Group lessons cannot be exchanged for private or semi-private lessons. INSTRUCTORS CANNOT ACCEPT REGISTRATIONS AT THE POOL.

REGISTRATION REMINDER: Registering for an incorrect swim class skill level does not guarantee that your child will be placed in the correct level at the first class meeting due to class size limitations.

PLEASE NOTE: Last-minute class cancellations/registrations greatly affect class structure and limit the ability of the staff to set up assigned classes. Please register for classes in advance!

NOTICE: There are NO make-up dates for missed classes.

Lesson Policies
Participants may not make-up classes, which have been missed. If your child is sick the first few days of the class, they are encouraged to take the remaining days of the class. There are no make-up classes or refunds due to illness, injury, or vacation. To remedy supervision concerns, please do not send children too early for classes and please pick up children on time. For maximum instructional time, spectators must remain in the viewing area (away from classes) while classes are in progress.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL CLASSES SUBJECT TO CANCELLATION IF MINIMUM NUMBERS ARE NOT MET.
