Jumping Jacks
Jumping Jacks is a safe, soft, super place to play! Obstacle courses, climbing structures, slides and rides are all part of the fun. Parachute games and songs also add to the festivities! Jumping Jacks is more than just a fun, exciting place to play . . . Give your child the greatest gift of all – the opportunity to explore and build social, motor and developmental skills through specially designed play equipment.
And best of all . . . you stay and play! Treasure the experience of encouraging your child while observing them learn and challenge themselves through interactive play with other children, and best of all, with you. Come enjoy your first class on us - it’s free!

PRE BALLET
Through Marin Ballet

MONDAYS
For 3 & 4 year olds
PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED

Movement Exploration (For 3 and 4 Year Olds) 10:00 - 10:45 a.m.-- A gentle
introduction to movement with music for three year olds. Students work to develop the skills needed to work within a group dynamic, listen actively & follow directions. Classes are designed as structured play, using imagery
& imagination to explore movement and develop gross motor skills; including marching, skipping, and leaping. Exercises for coordination and rhythm are introduced through creative games and dances.
Parents are welcome to observe last class of each sesson. Students may attend a make-up class at Marin Ballet for any missed classes. Sessions are not pro-rated for absences.

Fourth Quarter: 3 & 4 Year Olds -- Movement Exploration

Strawberry Recreation District Welcomes our New Program and Instructors provided by MARIN BALLET !!

Signe Lando trained at Marin Ballet for 11 years. She continued her dancing as part of her High School Dance team, where she served as choreographer. She performed with the College of Marin dance company, where she trained with David Jones, ellen Bauer and Sandra Tanner. She graduated in May 2007 from the University of San Francisco as a performing Arts Dance major. Ms. Lando joined the Marin Ballet faculty in 2003.

Attire for Girls: Light pink, cap sleeve leotards, no tights, pink ballet slippers, white ankle socks, hair tied-up /off neck, skirts ok above knee. length, no jewelry.

Attire for Boys: Navy blue shorts, white t-shirt, white ballet slippers, & white socks.

All Pre-Ballet classes are held in the 1st floor meeting room at the Strawberry Recreation Center.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

Spanish Class for Youth
Instructor: Mrs. Jojana Cifunentes

A great opportunity for youth to learn this beautiful & useful language. An enriching cultural experience. Mrs. Jojana Cifunentes, a native of Guatemala, is an experienced teacher both in Guatemala & Marin County. Boys & girls will have fun learning the basics of reading, writing and conversational Spanish the way it is taught in Spanish-speaking countries. Through repetition, songs & games, they will learn the parts of the body, fruits & vegetables plus Spanish social graces (hello, goodbye, please & thank you, etc.).

Chinese Brush Painting
for Youth

Instructor: Madeline Fu

A special class designed for Grades 3-5. Students can learn and experience the
exquisite ancient art of Chinese Brush Painting taught by Bay Area artist Madeline Fu.
While learning & practicing the basics of Brush Painting & Calligraphy, students will
also be introduced to some basic practice in spoken Mandarin language.
Madeline is a third-generation family member raised in a rich background of artistic talents in brush painting, calligraphy & stamp cutting. She has created art & taught Chinese brush painting to Adult & Youth at Strawberry Recreation & various other Bay Area locations for many years. Her works are also displayed at Strawberry Recreation Center’s Annual Art & Craft Faire.

Model Airplane Building
Held at Mill Valley Middle School - Room 26
Saturdays
Grades 3 & Up
Early Session / Beginners: 10:00 - 11:30 am
Late Session / Advanced: 11:30 - 1:00 pm

Note: Students can sign up for both early AND Late sessions, whether they are Beginner or Intermediate level, HOWEVER BEGINNERS must include the Early Session...Beginners cannot enroll only in the Late/Advanced Session by itself.

Combines construction & flying of model airplanes with basic principles of flight. Classes are open to builders of all skill levels & experience. Students must be able to read instructions. With instructor help, students choose & build projects appropriate to their skill level & interest. Students learn to read three-view plans, interpret written instructions & use their ingenuity to solve the problems of airplane construction. When students fly the planes they have built, principles of flight & control of flying aircraft are observed & discussed.
A complete workshop with kits, tool, material & supplies, is provided. Instructor Henry Krager has taught this class for many years, to students through Marin school districts & recreation programs.

Attention Parents: This program is operated in a shop environment. To ensure the safety of all participants, potential students must have the ability to remain on task for the full duration of the class. The use of sharp tools is part of this building process and instruction is given in their safe and proper use.

Note: Instructor collects the separate $25 material fee.

2008 Strawberry Summer Day Camp

Entering 1st - 6th grade? Don’t miss the fun!
A summer you’ll remember for years to come!!

Sessions feature fun & Special Themes, to include a variety of activities, such as games in our gym, arts & crafts, sports, cooking, recreational swimming (playtime) in our pool, nature hikes, special events, BBQ's, drama, music, special guests, field trips, 2 Kids Late Night Party, and Camper-Parent Party Night (new). One T-shirt provided to each camper for the summer while supplies last. NOTE: A weekly calendar will be available on the first day of each session of camp.

AGE GROUPS
Summer Day Camp is divided into smaller sub-camps:
Entering 1st through 3rd grades, & entering 4th though 6th grades.
A limited number of spaces are available in each age group -- Sign up early!

CAMP REGISTRATION DATES!
Mail & fax in registrations will be accepted, starting Monday,
March 3rd. Walk in registration begins Tuesday March 4th .
Camp registration forms now available in the office.
Completed forms with full payment of fees are required prior to program enrollment & attendance.

CAMP HOURS: 10:00 am - 4:00 p.m. Includes daily recreational swim. (Except on trip days).

EXTENDED CARE
Available by the week with Summer Day Camp enrollment,
for additional fee: Advance registration & payment required.
8:00 to 10 a.m.: $30 per week 4:00 to 6 p.m.: $30 per week Both blocks of time: $50 per week


Summer School Special: Exclusively for those attending summer school! 1st - 6th grades.
Swimming in the afternoon and lots of fun activities! A half day of our famous summer camp.
1 to 4 p.m. $85 a week, except Week #2: ($70/wk).
Note: Child must be able to attend all day on trip days.
Extended care available each week from 4 to 6 p.m. for only $30 a week extra.
($25 for week #2)

FEES: Weekly camp fee covers trip admission, transportation, Kids Late Night Party, & supervision.

SWIM LESSONS -- With Friday Pool Play: Available for sessions 1 -8 only, not Session 9.
Available Monday through Friday by week with concurrent Summer Day Camp enrollment, for $45 additional fee ($35 for Week #2). Lessons held 9:30 a.m. to 9:55 a.m. at Strawberry Pool. The children are given lessons Monday through Thursday.
Then each Friday those enrolled in the swim lessons get to spend their swim time in pool play. Summer camp swim lessons are offered only to campers enrolled in that week's camp session. Note -Camp counselors escort children who are enrolled in the morning extended care program to swimming lessons. If not enrolled in extended care, the child should be dropped off at the pool. (No earlier than 9:20 a.m.) A camp counselor will escort all swim lesson campers back to camp after swim lessons. Sign up early! A limited number of swim lesson slots are available each session.

Session 3:‘Roll, Fly, Paint & Sing!!’ Week

Special Events: Mini-race car teams, Paper airplanes, games, cool ceramics!
karaoke fun, pool fun, scavenger Hunt. Dive in and enjoy the fun!!
Cost: $150.

Session 4:‘Super-Sloppiest !!’ Week
July 14 - 18
Special Events: Velcro Wall & Cotton Candy Day. Face-painting, People-size art,
tie-dye, crafts, ooblick & fun. Sloppy Pie contest. Tissue Blizzard.
Cost: $160

Session 5:‘Ice is Nice!’ Week
July 21 - 25
Special Events: Trip to Skating Rink, dance, & cooking fun, Sundaes on Wednesdays,
games & crafts. Make me laugh!

Session 6: ‘Beachy Fun & Late Night Party!!’ Week
July 28 - August 1
Special Events: Beach day. Kite teams, sand castles, beach volleyball, craft-kit fun,
games, and more!! Another popular late-night party!

Special Events: Visit the Exploratorium! Paper mache mask/animal projects, games,
face-painting, try your hand at wacky contraptions, punch a pinata!

Counselors in Training (CIT's)
Exclusively, for those who are too old for camp and too young to work. A fun program
for 7th through 9th graders. C.I.T's assist the counselor and campers while learning
to become future counselors. Very limited space. Each C.I.T. is limited to 2 sessions.
Cost is half the regular camp fee. [for regular 10 am-4 pm camp hours only].
(CIT’s who wish to arrive earlier than 10 am or or stay later than 4 p.m. will be charged
full price for extended care rates (a weekly fee). A.M.Swim lessons are also available
at full price camper rate. Potential C.I.T's must complete a job application and
interview to become eligible. Interviews will begin in mid-May.

Bring-a-Friend Special !!
$40 per Day
Designed for campers who would like to bring a friend along to camp for the day.
Completion of liability form by parent of guest, is required. Extended care fee for either am or pm is $6 extra.
$10 extra for am and pm. The 1-day Guest Fee may be used for a Maximum of 3 Camp Dates throughout
the Entire Summer. This special is not available for use on field trip or special event dates.
