SRD IS HIRING THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS:

Facilities Lead Full-Time – Open as of 4.10.2024

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Operating under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, this position will assist in the general maintenance and upkeep of the District’s facilities and properties, including buildings, aquatic facility, athletic fields, parks, and open spaces. The position is a full-time, year-round position and would be scheduled for approximately 40 hours/week (Monday – Friday, some evenings and weekends, daily start time vary).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff and personnel
  • Pool pump room daily operations and maintenance
  • Operations, services, and activities of public works, parks, and landscape maintenance programs
  • Moderate proficiency in methods and techniques of construction, maintenance and repairs related to parks, fields and building maintenance
  • Operational characteristics of mechanical equipment and tools used in maintaining building and grounds
  • Closely follow Supervisors assigned job time estimate(s), and materials required to perform assigned maintenance activities
  • Care for and maintenance of a variety of plant life, including plant identification, plant care and pruning
  • Principles of safety regulations and laws
  • Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time indoors and outdoors
  • Perform heavy manual labor
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision
  • Communicate and follow instructions effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • Three years experiences in facility, maintenance, field, park operation, or related field
  • High school diploma required. AA or college degree beneficial
  • Must obtain and keep current First Aid, CPR and Certified Pool Operators (CPO) certifications
  • Must have own transportation, valid California DL, with clean driving record
  • Medical evaluation required
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Pay range $65,000 – $70,000 depending on experience and availability.

Candidates must be 18 years or older and possess a valid/current drivers license.

Must be able to reliably commute to Mill Valley, and or relocate on your own prior to starting this position.

Youth Program Specialist

August 2024 – June 2025 after school shifts range from 1:30 pm – 6:15 pm.

Up to 20 hours per week.

Weekday afternoon shifts range from 1:00 pm – 6:15 pm. Up to 20 hours per week. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required for special events.

Position start date: August 20.2024

Strawberry Recreation District is looking for qualified individuals who are enthusiastic, motivated, and responsible individuals to coordinate and lead a combination of indoor and outdoor activities.

Youth Program Specialists lead games, projects, and lessons, transitioning children between a multitude of activities.

We are looking for individuals who are creative, responsible, fun-loving, and self-motivated with the ability to keep up with 5-11 year-olds and to think on their feet. Hours range from 1:00pm – 6:15 pm, Monday – Friday, some weekend, evening, and/or full day shifts for special activities, holiday camps and events.

– Supervise and engage with children from ages 5-11 years-old during both structured and unstructured activities.

– Plan, organize, and lead a variety of activities, games, projects, and lessons.

– Communicate openly and effectively with staff and administration, as well as other Program Coordinators.

– Ensure the safety and emotional wellbeing of students.

– Respond to emergencies and injuries calmly and effectively.

– Carry out disinfecting procedures and COVID-19 safety protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to:

– Confidently work with children under minimal supervision.

– Effectively communicate with children in a calm and patient manner.

– Demonstrate leadership skills, patience, and enthusiasm.

– Observe campers for signs of illness and/or injury.

– Climb up and down stairs and lift up to 50 pounds.

Experience:

– At least one year experience in leading and supervising children in a recreational setting and/or academic background/experience in recreation, elementary or physical education, nature sciences, or related field.

Live Scan Background check required for employment.

After School Counselors Pay Range: $18 – $25/hr. per hr. depending on qualifications and experience.

Summer Camp Counselors Pay Range: $18 – $21/hr. depending on qualifications and experience.

2024 Lifeguard (Part-time)

Strawberry Recreation District is now hiring lifeguards for weekday morning and midday shifts. Convenient location, COVID compliant, outdoor facility and competitive pay based on experience.

*Current American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR Certificate preferred.

Primary responsibilities

-Enforce pool rules and guidelines to ensure patron safety.

-Recognize and respond to all emergencies.

-Handle basic problems and complaints in a calm and patient manner.

-Check pool chemistry.

-Keep pool deck and pool office clean.
