Founded in 1949, Strawberry Recreation District (SRD) is a State Special District providing park and recreational activities for Strawberry and the surrounding community. SRD provides a breadth of year-round programs, classes, memberships, activities, and events for people of all ages.
Although not affiliated with a city, SRD receives a small amount of property tax from Strawberry residents (3.5 cents for every dollar of basic tax paid to Marin County). Property taxes account for roughly 15% of SRD’s total annual revenue.
Consequently, SRD must use net earnings to set up reserves to cover costs of deferred maintenance, repairs and improvements to SRD’s aging facilities. With operating costs rising SRD is left with less and less net income for necessary maintenance and improvements.
Strawberry Recreation District is an amazing local resource. When you participate in SRD programs and memberships, attend activities and events, and bring/refer a friend, proceeds go directly to SRD’s upkeep.
We greatly appreciate your ongoing support of our wonderful community center.
