Strawberry is a unincorporated waterfront community in Marin County, California.
Located on San Francisco Bay between the towns of Tiburon and Mill Valley,
it is approximately 10 miles north of San Francisco. Approximately 5000
people live in Strawberry. These residents are a mix of professionals
and artists, young families and retirees. Many people move here and never
leave. All enjoy the waterfront views, marine wildlife, trails and parks.
Strawberry is not just a physical location: it is a true community. In
1999, the District celebrated its 50th anniversary with a community party.
STRAWBERRY RECREATION DISTRICT
The Strawberry Recreation District, an independent government agency is responsible for operating and maintaining rental and athletic facilities and parks. These include:
Recreation center
Tennis courts (four)
Swimming pool and spa
Playing fields
Parks
The Recreation District is managed by a District Manager who reports to an elected 5-member Board of Directors. Its operating budget is $1.2 million. The District is primarily self-funded, with program fees comprising 80% of its revenue. Board meetings are held at least once a month.
