School year youth tennis clinics for children TK – 3rd grade are offered through our Youth Enrichment After School Programs.

Adult Tennis Instruction

SRD Adult & Teen Tennis Clinics with HRT

Strawberry Recreation District offers seasonal adult tennis clinics with HRT.  Clinics are offered in 4 – 8 week sessions. Based on demand, classes may vary from session to session.

All adult clinics are for people 18 yrs. and over.

Beginner Level 1 & 2 (Adult and Teen)

Just starting to play, learning to score and rally. Limited experience, focusing on getting the ball over the net. Players will learn all basic strokes, scoring, and footwork. Focus on strokes and practicing consistency.

Adult: Thursdays 10 – 11:30 am,

Teen – Tuesdays 6:30 – 8 pm

Beginner Levels

2.0, 2.5, 3.0

Learning to judge ball flight, weak court coverage, but can sustain a short rally at a slow pace. Fairly consistent when hitting medium-paced shots, but lacks comfort with all strokes and struggles with directional control or power.

Mondays

6:30 – 8 pm

Women – 3.0

Fairly consistent when hitting medium-paced shots, but lacks comfort with all strokes and struggles with directional control or power. Able to serve and play games, stay in points for at least 3 – 4 balls. Understands basic singles and doubles strategy.

Tuesdays

10 – 11:30 am

Women – 3.5

Improved dependability, directional control on moderate shots, developing better net play and court coverage. Understands singles and doubles strategy. Able to control serves and play games/sets with confidence. 3.5 match experience preferred.

Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays 8:30 – 10 am

Women – 4.0

Dependable strokes with control and depth, uses lobs/volleys/overheads successfully, sometimes struggles with impatience. Able to move well on the court and execute singles and doubles strategy. 4.0 match experience preferred.

Fridays

10 – 11:30 am

Men – 3.5/4.0

Able to master power and spin, handles pace well, sound footwork, and uses varied game plans. Able to execute all stokes. Understands both singles and doubles strategy.

Thursdays

6:30 – 8:30 pm

Private and Small Group Lessons

Strawberry Recreation District has authorized tennis professionals who teach lessons on our courts. Only authorized pros may teach lessons on SRD courts. To enquire about private and small group lessons on the Strawberry courts, please reach out to the pros to check rates and availability.

Jose Hilla is the CEO and co-founder of HRT Tennis Academy and the architect behind many of the academy’s high-performance systems. Born and raised in Spain, Jose developed his coaching style through European training, with a strong foundation in footwork, tactics, fitness, and smart point construction. He has coached players of all levels, from beginners to elite juniors and collegiate athletes. Jose is deeply involved in international tennis, traveling regularly for tournaments, training blocks, and global partnerships. He also leads HRT’s padel expansion and is one of the few Spanish-trained padel professionals growing the sport in Northern California. Jose is known for his calm leadership, professionalism, and commitment to giving every player a real opportunity to succeed.”

Hugo Colpart is the General Manager and Tennis Director of HRT Tennis Academy, overseeing programs, staff, operations, and player development. Originally from France, he was a top national junior, trained full-time from age 14, and competed in national championships and professional events. He later moved to the U.S., played NCAA Division II tennis, and earned a BA in Business Administration and Sport Management. Hugo has coached high-performance juniors in both the U.S. and Europe, helping players reach college and pro pathways. He has played a major role in HRT’s growth into one of Northern California’s leading high-performance academies. Hugo is known for building strong culture, high standards, and developing great athletes and great humans.

Nate has been part of the HRT family for more than half of his life, starting at age 14 as a junior player under Jose. He went on to compete through his junior, collegiate, and professional tennis career while representing HRT at every stage. During college, he began coaching at HRT and quickly discovered a true passion for player development. After graduating and playing professionally, he transitioned into a full-time coaching role. Nate brings deep loyalty, high standards, and strong leadership to the academy. Fun fact: he’s a local — born and raised in Sonoma County.

Originally from Dortmund, Germany, Sarah competed among the top 200 U21 players in the country. She moved to the U.S. to play collegiate tennis for the nation’s #1 NAIA program before transferring to Division I Northern Arizona University. After graduating, she transitioned into coaching and led both men’s and women’s teams at a Division II program in the Pacific West Conference. Sarah has since built a strong tennis community in the East Bay, blending high performance with a welcoming environment. She is passionate about helping players grow both on and off the court through discipline, confidence, and enjoyment. Sarah is dedicated full-time to HRT and brings great energy and leadership to the team.

Born and raised in Hawai’i, Kimi started playing tennis at age 6. She competed at a national level and reached #10 in the U.S. in doubles in both the 14s and 16s. Her junior success earned her a Division I scholarship. She credits her journey to strong mentors and support along the way. That experience is what inspired her passion for coaching. Kimi loves giving back to the sport and helping players grow through tennis.

Andres started playing tennis in Colombia at age 5 and competed at a national level. He later became a professional coach in Australia. Known for his high energy, Andres brings positivity, passion, and 110% effort every day. His unique background as a competitive athlete, lawyer, and entrepreneur gives him a powerful perspective on performance. Andres focuses on building strong mindsets, discipline, and confidence on the court. A session with him is built around great vibes and guaranteed improvement.

Keith Pollak is a high-performance tennis professional with more than twenty years of coaching experience in Marin County. In 2021, Keith Pollak began working as a Tennis Professional at Strawberry Recreation. Prior to joining Strawberry, Keith was a tennis professional at Tiburon Peninsula Club (TPC) for 13 years, following 4 years at Belvedere Tennis Club (BTC). Throughout his career, he has built a strong reputation for delivering technical, high-performance coaching tailored to both adults and junior players.

A Marin native, Keith began his tennis journey at Redwood High School, where he developed the foundation for his competitive success. He continued his collegiate career at Southern Methodist University, earning NCAA All-American honors and achieving a #2 national ranking in doubles.

Keith went on to compete on the professional tour, reaching a career-high doubles ranking of 477 in the world. His firsthand experience competing at the collegiate and professional levels gives him unique insight into the technical, tactical, and mental demands of high-level tennis.

With extensive experience coaching players of all ages and abilities, Keith is known for his technical precision, strategic approach, and ability to bring out the best in each athlete he trains. Keith is also passionate about teaching kids basic, intermediate and advanced coordination skills. His deep roots in Marin and decades of competitive and coaching experience make him one of the area’s most trusted tennis professionals.
