About Us
Strawberry is an unincorporated waterfront community in Marin County, California located 10 miles north of San Francisco. Approximately 6000 people live in Strawberry on the San Francisco Bay between the towns of Tiburon and Mill Valley. Residents are a mix of professionals, entrepreneurs, young families, and retirees. All enjoy the waterfront views, marine wildlife, natural trails and parks. Established in 1949, Strawberry Recreation District’s mission is to serve the community with recreation and park activities & programs. Strawberry is not just a physical location: it is a true community.
The Strawberry Recreation District, an independent government agency responsible for operating and maintaining the SRD recreation community center, athletic facilities and parks. These include:

The Recreation District is managed by a District General Manager who reports to an elected 5-member Board of Directors. Its operating budget is approximately $2.5 million. The District is primarily self-funded and relies on net income from operations to fund repairs, maintenance and facility improvements.
Board meetings are held at least once a month, normally on the second Tuesday of the Month*. Check website for virtual or in-person.

Youth Scholarship Program
The Strawberry Recreation District Youth Scholarship Program is funded by The Tiburon Peninsula Foundation and Strawberry Recreation District. The Youth Scholarship Program is for children under the age of 18 yrs., who reside in Marin County.
