Lifeguard Certification Course

Ages 15 & up

APRIL 14 – 16 & JUNE 2 – 4

 

Become an American Red Cross (ARC) certified Lifeguard. The primary purpose of the lifeguard training program is to provide entry-level lifeguard skills and knowledge to prevent, recognize and respond to emergencies and to provide care for sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrives and takes over. After successful completion, the American Red Cross will issue certificates in Lifeguard Training/First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (valid 2 years).

Pre-requisites: Participants must be 15 years of age by last day of the course. Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously; tread water for 2 minutes without using arms; swim 20 yds, then surface dive and retrieve 10 pound brick and return to starting point and climb out of the water without assistance, skill must be performed in under 1:40.

Lifeguard Instructor Course

Age: 17 & up

Become an American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard Instructor. Learn how to teach classes including basic-level lifeguarding, shallow water attendant, Lifeguard Management, CPR/AED, Administering Emergency Oxygen, Bloodborne Pathogens Training and Basic Water Rescue. Course also includes ARC Fundamentals of Instructor Training Course.

Pre-requisites: Participants Must be 17 years of age by last class meeting and successfully pass the pre course skills session. Must be currently certified as a lifeguard and provide proof of certification. Online portion of class is required. $35 ARC certification fee must be paid.
